Warming up Cold Feet
February 18, 2016
I have cold feet some nights. I usually do not even realize my feet are cold until I get into bed. Sometimes my feet are cold because I run out of the house in the winter with ballet flats on, but not all cases are so obvious and should be discussed with a doctor.
Some causes of cold feet can be from hypothyroidism, Raynaud’s disease, diabetes, or low body weight leading to poor circulation. (source)
Some things that have helped me warm up:
- Acupuncture
- Exercise
- Warming drinks like ginger tea
- Warming spices like cayenne pepper
An easy at home method to warm up your feet is a nighttime massage and here is how you do it:
- Warm 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
- Place one drop ginger essential oil and one drop lavender essential oil with the coconut oil. Wintergreen and eucalyptus are also good, but the smell is strong.
- Massage on feet for a few minutes.
- Put on your favorite socks.
- Go back to bed!
