Homemade Almond Milk
Homemade almond milk is delicious and has no extra ingredients like you find in store bought brands.
I don’t have a good excuse, but I have to admit I stopped making my own almond milk for a while. I recently completed a cleanse and I noticed when I drank my store bought almond milk I had stomach discomfort and bloating. Who wants a bloated belly? I decided to test out going back to homemade and guess what. I had NO discomfort and bloating with my homemade version. I can make smoothies and my kids can have their gluten free blender waffles again.

How To Make Almond Milk
Plain Almond Milk
Soak 1 cup of organic shelled almonds in water for 8-12 hours. Change the water and soak for another 4-12 hours. Rinse the almonds and place in the blender with 3 2/3 cups water, 1 t coconut nectar (optional) and 1 t sunflower lecithin (optional). Blend for about a minute. Place a nut milk bag over a 1-quart measuring cup and squeeze out the milk. Store in a glass bottle. It keeps for 3 days.
Chocolate Almond Milk
Add 1 T cocao powder plus 1 T coconut nectar to your homemade almond milk and blend in the blender.
Don’t Toss the Almond Pulp
My favorite sweet recipe to use up the almond pulp is Raw Almond Pulp Fudge.
