My personal story started with my mom. I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was 29 and she was 57. I think that is my deeper driving force to study all things health and wellness. My mom fought a good fight and even her doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering referred to her as one his most remarkable patients. I do wish now, though, that my mom could have explored the root cause of her disease. We were told not to bother making any dietary changes. I was 17 at the time so hearing this from a doctor was enough for me. I can think back to all of her headaches and digestive complaints. At the very least, I think dietary upgrades would have given her more comfort. My mom missed the chance to be a grandmother to six boys. If I can help people to feel good I would truly feel I am living my life’s purpose.
I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition®. I then went on to receive my FDN-P from Functional Diagnostic Nutrition®.
During my early studies, my fellow students and I had the opportunity to test ourselves. I learned that I did have some issues. I, like so many of my friends, thought that the inevitable weight gain around 40 was normal. I found out I have food sensitivities, adrenal dsyregulation, compromised hormonal pathways, and digestion and detox issues. When I removed reactive foods, treated my digestive issues and supported my adrenals my weight gain decreased. My daily energy improved and I no longer crash at 3:00 pm. Through my experience, I began to feel that I could make a difference in the lives of others.
This work brings me great joy and satisfaction- educating and coaching others to gain optimal health.
I believe that the body wants to be healthy. Unfortunately we are bombarded with stresses our bodies have to fight on a daily basis. This stress can be internal or external. It can come from poor food choice, not enough sleep, environmental toxins, genetically modified foods, malabsorption of nutrients, and issues at work. These are just a few of the possibilities.
Many of the people I work with are like myself. They have been to the doctor and told they are okay, but they feel something is wrong. When we only address the symptoms rather than finding the root cause we can continue to decline.
What is your goal? To lose weight, increase energy, stop aches and pains, not get sick all the time? My goal is to help you return to vibrant health.
You choose to participate in the healing experience and gain improvement in overall health and function. I use functional lab tests to gain perspective on each individual and look for hidden stressors and healing opportunities. I do not treat test results nor do I diagnose or treat disease. This is not a quick fix approach instead it is a process to regain and maintain health and function. My mission is to educate clients how to stop chasing symptoms and get to the root cause and live with vitality at any age. Are you ready to take control of your health?
