Crush the Bloat with A Cranberry Recipe
Bloating is an uncomfortable feeling that many people deal with. I had a period in my life when my belly would expand during the course of the day and it left me frustrated and uncomfortable.
After many tests and visits to different medical practitioners I found out I have two digestive issues that cause this. It is highly likely that I got these issues from taking antibiotics for Lyme disease. I used to feel really frustrated, as the treatment is more antibiotics, and I could not accept taking more antibiotics to “cure” something caused by antibiotics. I really thought I would have to live like this forever.
When I started to experiment with seasonal cleanses I was shocked that I found way to get rid of the bloat without taking antibiotics. A cleanse is a week of clean eating followed by a week of really listening to your body as you slowly add food back in. Through this cleansing process I learned which foods cause my stomach to bloat or my skin to breakout. I also have a process now that works that I know I can go back to after life gets crazy with school breaks or being really busy.
One thing I like to do daily is drink beverages that help my body feel good. In my Spring Cleanse I included a recipe book that included 8 tonic recipes, 7 juice recipes and 5 smoothie recipes.
Here is one of my favorites:
Cranberry Cleanser
- 2 tablespoons cranberry juice concentrate
- 1-cup water
- 1 lemon juiced
- Dash of cinnamon
- Optional: honey or stevia
Cranberry is a good source of antioxidants as well as a natural diuretic. I think most women associate cranberry with helping prevent urinary tract infections, but there are many more benefits such as: may inhibit growth of bacteria in the stomach and mouth, may prevent blood clots, may increase good cholesterol and may help fight cancer. source
