Saying Goodbye to My Amalgams
Silver filings, also known as amalgams, are a made of a mixture of metals. Dental amalgams contain elemental mercury and low levels of this mercury are released from the filling. The lungs may absorb mercury vapor from the fillings. This is different than the mercury you could come in to contact with when consuming fish. The mercury in fish is methylmercury and it is absorbed in the digestive tract. (source)
In the book Heal Breast Cancer Naturally by Dr. Veronique Desaulniers she says, “If you truly want to heal your body, you must address the dental issues”. She lists some great questions to ask your dentist. I recently had my last two amalgams removed and while I did not take all of her precautions I did a lot. Some precautions my dentist took were:
- Provide oxygen given by nosepiece.
- Use high powered vacuum system
- Use rubber dam to prevent mercury from getting in mouth or on tongue.
- Apply activated charcoal in the mouth to absorb any toxins
I also continued to take coconut charcoal for two days after. I was lucky that a place opened close to my house that has an infrared sauna. I did 5 visits of 30 minutes each. I used the sauna on my doctor’s recommendation to detox from this dental procedure.
